Invisalign FAQs
How much does Invisalign cost in Dublin?
At Dentist Rathmines, Invisalign Comprehensive costs €4,000 to €4,900 and Invisalign Lite costs €3,600. This depends on the complexity of your case. Your free consultation includes a personalised quote with no obligation.
There are several ways to make treatment more affordable.
Your fee includes three sets of Vivera retainers — worth €500 — at no extra cost. Retention is essential to protect your result for life, and we believe it should never be an unexpected add-on at the end of treatment. Many practices charge separately for retainers once your aligners come off; at Dentist Rathmines, they are built into the price you agree at the start. You'll also receive complimentary teeth whitening to finish your smile.
Flexible payment plans are available, allowing you to spread the cost over the course of your treatment. As a non-routine orthodontic treatment, Invisalign also qualifies for 20% tax relief through Revenue's Med 2 scheme — we complete the form for you, and you simply submit it with your tax return.
You may also have some coverage through dental insurance. Levels of cover for orthodontic treatment vary considerably from policy to policy, so we would always recommend checking directly with your insurer to see what your particular plan includes. We're happy to provide any documentation you may need.
Am I too old for Invisalign?
Not at all. Teeth can be moved safely and predictably at any age, provided your gums and supporting bone are healthy. Many of our Invisalign patients are in their 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond. In fact, adults often make excellent Invisalign patients because they wear their aligners diligently. Your free consultation will confirm whether your dental health is ready for treatment.
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
Most cases take between 6 and 18 months, depending on how much movement is needed. At your consultation, our 5D digital scan lets you preview your expected result and gives you a realistic treatment timeline before you commit to anything.
Can I eat and drink normally with Invisalign?
Yes — this is one of Invisalign's biggest advantages. You simply remove your aligners to eat, then brush and pop them back in. There are no food restrictions at all, unlike traditional braces. You'll need to wear your aligners for 20–22 hours a day for the best results.
Will people notice I'm wearing Invisalign?
Most people won't. The aligners are made from a clear, thin material that sits snugly against your teeth. Many of our patients tell us that colleagues and friends never noticed they were in treatment — even in close conversation.
What happens after my Invisalign treatment finishes?
Retention is essential — teeth will naturally try to drift back without support. We provide Vivera retainers, made by Invisalign from the same precise digital scans, worn nightly to protect your new smile for life. We'll explain your retention plan fully before you finish treatment, and as a thank-you, you'll receive complimentary teeth whitening to finish your smile transformation.
